Abstract expressionism, a post World War II art movement in American painting, was first developed in New York in the 1940s.

Marisa R Ng is one of the few female abstract expressionists in Malaysia. Paying homage to the memory of her grandmother, her latest exhibition “Bunga DiHatiKu”, comprise 14 paintings, including a larger-than-life art work measuring 8ft x 8ft. Spontaneous, automatic, and subconscious are three core elements that best describe her art style, and these aspects are and well and truly reflected on all her masterpieces.

A graduate of the¬†National Academy of Arts, Culture & Heritage (ASWARA) in Kuala Lumpur, Marisa’s “Bunga DiHatiKu” is showing at ZHAN Art | Space until 24 September.¬†
